Welcome to our featured harp music section!  Every quarter (March, June, September, and December) we will feature a work by one of our talented Pacific Northwest harp composers and arrangers. You are welcome to download and print a copy of this music for your personal private use. (If you wish to perform the music publicly for profit, print or publish any arrangement, or record or broadcast it, you must first contact the copyright holder for the appropriate permissions.)

Please Note: Reigning Harps uses the Scorch plug-in player from Sibelius Software to display and print musical scores. If you do not have this free software, go to the Sibelius Scorch web site at www.sibelius.com/scorch and follow the instructions for downloading the utility. (If your operating system is set to block active controls (the Scorch plug-in is an Active X control), you may need to choose to allow blocked content when displaying the music page. It should not cause any problems if you allow it to be displayed.)

If you can not or do not wish to use the Scorch player, scores are also available in Adobe PDF format. If you do not have the free Adobe Acrobat reader, you can get it at www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.

Summer quarter's featured music is a jazzy duet arrangement of an Irish slip jig:

The Butterfly, by Beth A. Kollé

This fun arrangement is from Beth's newest book of harp ensemble music, aptly named "The Harp Ensemble Book"! The Harp Ensemble Book presents eleven tunes gathered from America and the Celtic and Nordic lands, arranged for lever harp. There are six duets and five trios with parts ranging from Beginner to Upper Intermediate. This book is ideal for harp groups of any size. Perfect for teachers who encourage their students to play with other harpers; the parts may be divided so that the teacher plays the more complicated parts and the students the simpler parts. Several trios are presented with duet options in order to fit harp groups of varying skill levels. BONUS: Purchasers receive copyright permission to make three copies of each part to facilitate group use.

Tune List: The Butterfly (duet - Ireland); Dance from Asker (duet - Norway); Carolan's Draught (duet or trio - T. O Carolan, Ireland); Loftus Jones II (duet or trio - T. O Carolan, Ireland); On the Way to Stavanger (duet - Fred Aalto, USA); Polonaise (duet - Sweden); Polska from Säfnäs (trio - Sweden); Schottis (trio - Sweden); Oh Shenandoah (duet - American); Snowfall Waltz (duet - James Lough, USA); Waltz for Kuisma (duet or trio - Lauri Keskinen, Finland).

Price - $24, approx. 107 pages, soon to be available from www.bethkolle.com, Sylvia Woods' Harp Center (www.harpcenter.com) and Melody's Traditional Music (www.folkharp.com). For more information or advance orders, contact beth@bethkolle.com.
